On Sunday, October 12, a dedicated team of Boys Town New England volunteers showed what true community spirit looks like, braving a literal nor’easter to support runners during the 2025 Amica Newport Marathon.
Despite the rain, wind, and chilly temperatures, five Boys Town New England volunteers gathered along the course to cheer on participants, hand out water, and share food and encouragement with runners pushing through the elements. Their energy and enthusiasm helped keep spirits high throughout the stormy morning.
This year’s event drew a record-setting crowd of more than 5,000 runners, making it one of the largest fields in the marathon’s history. As one of the charitable partners for the race, Boys Town New England’s presence along the route brought warmth and encouragement to everyone who passed by. Volunteers greeted soaked but smiling runners with cheers, snacks, and a reminder that community spirit can shine even in the stormiest weather.
The Amica Newport Marathon is a beloved Rhode Island tradition, known for its scenic route through the city’s historic neighborhoods and along its breathtaking coastline. This year, the event also became a celebration of perseverance, both from the runners who faced the elements and from the volunteers who stood by them every step of the way.
Boys Town New England was honored to serve as a charitable partner for this year’s Amica Newport Marathon, joining other local organizations in celebrating fitness, perseverance, and community giving. Funds raised through the event help support programs that strengthen families, empower youth, and build brighter futures.
Thank you to every volunteer who represented Boys Town New England at the 2025 Amica Newport Marathon. Your dedication and spirit made a difference, rain or shine!
