As the school year starts coming to a close, Boys Town is reminding families that this can be one of the most stressful times of the year for kids and teens.

Between finals, sports, activities, graduation plans and figuring out what comes next, many students are feeling overwhelmed trying to balance everything at once. Boys Town’s Behavioral Health Clinic has seen more calls related to stress, burnout and anxiety tied to the end of the school year, showing just how much pressure students can carry this time of year.

During an interview with FOX 8, Boys Town Louisiana Executive Director Rashain Carriere-Williams talked about the importance of helping kids recognize and talk about what they are feeling. Sometimes simply naming emotions can help children and teens better understand the stress they are experiencing.

For older kids especially, opening up is not always easy. That is why Boys Town encourages parents to look for natural moments to start conversations, whether it is during a car ride, after school or while spending time together at home. Giving teens space to talk about what is stressing them out can help them feel supported instead of carrying those feelings alone.

Small routines at home can go a long way in reducing stress as well. Helping kids stay organized, manage their time and prepare for the next school day can make busy weeks feel a little less chaotic. Stress is something everyone experiences, but Boys Town hopes families remember that support, communication and simple daily habits can make a real difference for children navigating a high-pressure season.
