We would like to recognize In Home Family Services (IHFS) Consultant Ella Jahn, who has been with Boys Town for a little over a year now. A few of Ella’s many strengths are her ability to be compassionate, professional and supportive of families during difficult times.
Recently, Ella went above and beyond to support a coworker who was working with a family receiving Family Preservation Services (FPS). The family consists of a single mother caring for her four children and a newborn baby, while also recovering from childbirth. Ella was able to recognize the significant challenges the mother was facing, and she stepped in to provide additional support and assistance.
Ella made extra contacts with the mother to help ensure the children’s safety and well-being, while also encouraging the mother to take much-needed time for self-care and recovery. Her willingness to step up and assist her coworker and provide the mother with much-needed support mirrors what the Boys Town Mission is all about.
During one particular appointment, Ella encountered a challenging situation involving one of the children experiencing significant behaviors. Ella remained calm and focused throughout the incident, ensuring the safety of all the children and using her skills to help the child calm down.
Ella’s approach to working with families comes from a place of genuine care and compassion. She looks to understand the individual needs of each family, which allows her to provide support that promotes safety, stability and positive outcomes.
We are so thankful to have Ella as a part of the Mission, and we appreciate the positive impact she is having on families and children every day.
